There is no implementation of compulsory military service in any of the modern countries around the world.
That implementation is displayed as an initiative reducing status differences. However the fact is the registration of soldiers’ superiority over the rest of the society. According to us the real equality is not possible with the recruitment of the young people in equal conditions but with the civilization. When there is enough flexibility in the constitution for completing the same period in implementing other duties, why can not be found other alternatives? It is not fair to relate that to patriotism. We do not believe that national service is only implemented with recruitment. Besides that the professionalization in the border patrols is reducing the need for recruitment. Polices, doctors, teachers, athletes, engineers and kind of young people who are talented in their fields can implement more useful dutiesfor the country by participating in public affairs and civil society! These kind of services contribute to citizenship consciousness and economy, more than everything.
Compulsory Military Service will be lifted in Turkey!
In the recognization of that since the Cold War military technology changed totally, and that technologic change reduced the need for recruitment and increased the need for professional soldiers; we argue that Turkey needs a powerful army equipped with the professional warfare requirements instead of a crowded army that is positioning itself as the guardian of the regime.
We as the ‘Powerful Turkey’ volunteers, demand that the compulsory military service implementation to be abolished. We as the independent young people of Turkey declare to the public that we are going to continue our campaign until compulsory military service implementation is abolished and we call all political parties, civil society foundations, and people to support our campaign without regarding ideologies.
